Converting Windows Server 2019: Standard to Datacenter Made Easy

Note: This method is specifically for upgrading from Windows Server Standard to Datacenter; downgrading is not supported.
Note: Your documents and applications will remain safe during this upgrade, though we recommend a full backup as a precaution against unexpected issues.

To upgrade, please follow these steps:

  1. Search for CMD in the taskbar search box. When the Command Prompt appears, right-click and choose Run as administrator.
  2. Enter the following command in the command line: dism /online /set-edition:serverdatacenter /productkey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX /accepteula. Substitute the Xs with your genuine product key and press Enter.
  3. Once the upgrade completes, restart your server. Your system will then be configured as Windows Server 2019 Datacenter.
