Installing Windows 11 on Your Mac Using Bootcamp
Note: Boot Camp is not available on the following devices: MacBook Air M1, 2020; MacBook Pro 13', M1, 2020; Mac mini M1, 2020; and iMac 24-inch, M1, 2021. For Apple devices with an M1 chip, alternative installation methods are required.
To determine your system's compatibility with Windows 11, proceed as follows:
- Tap the Apple logo at the top of the screen.
- Choose About this Mac for system details.
Note: On Intel PCs, the label will read Processor, whereas on Apple devices, it will display as Chip.
Follow these steps to prepare:
Ensure all macOS updates are applied.
Note: Windows installation should only commence after all macOS updates are installed.
- Open the Apple menu on the upper left and select System Preferences.
- Hit Software Update.
- If no updates show, you're up to date. Otherwise, proceed with the updates.
Note: The system will seek updates automatically. Allow a few moments for this process.
Set Up Your Mac for Windows
The Boot Camp Assistant configures your Mac by creating a BOOTCAMP partition and downloading necessary support software.
Note: Ensure your laptop is connected to power before proceeding if you are using a portable Mac.
- Plug a USB into your Mac and search for Boot Camp using the magnifying glass on the top left.
- Launch Boot Camp Assistant and select Continue on the intro screen.
- Tick all necessary options and press Continue.
- Choose the Windows 11 .iso file you've downloaded and the USB for the installation media.
- Adjust the storage space for Windows by moving the center bar, then click Install.
- Your Mac will reboot and start the Windows 11 installation.
Note: You cannot modify the partition size after setting it.

Install Boot Camp in Windows
Post Windows installation, Boot Camp drivers that suit your Mac will begin installing.
- Adhere to the on-screen instructions in the Boot Camp installer in Windows.
- Upon completion, click Finish.
- After your device reboots, follow any further installation prompts that appear.
Note: Avoid clicking the Cancel button during the installation.
Note: If warned that the software hasn't passed the Windows logo test, select Continue.
Note: Installation dialog boxes may pop up briefly. If a dialog box asks to install device software, click Install. Check for any hidden windows if nothing seems to happen.
Note: If the compatibility software does not install automatically, you may need to install it manually.
